A Poem Video

I came across Terveen’s poem video and felt so inspired. The next thing I knew I spent a day trying to make a poem video myself, but only with limited progress. This is her post here. I guess we don’t need to click on a reblogging button anymore–just copy and paste the URL and it is a reblogging right here.

This weekend, I tried three software: the first one is Microsoft Photo, which comes with the window 10 operating system. The second one is Shotcut, which is an open source software and can be downloaded at https://shotcut.org/download website. The third software is Audacity, another open source thing that can be downloaded at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/ website.

At first I tried to muddle through without reviewing instructions or going through tutorials, but soon I realized it is frustrating to click blindly on different buttons, wishing the desired result will come out. So I went back to YouTube to watch two tutorials on the two software. Audacity is relatively easy to use and no need for tutorial–it just records my voice and exports it into whatever format I desire.

Now after spending hours, I feel that I am quite technically inept. My video is nowhere near started. However, poem video is such a beautiful idea that I just can’t give up.

  1. I’m so glad that you’re trying out various possibilities for video poems, Haoyan. Thank you so much for sharing the link to the video here. I appreciate it. It means a lot to me. Also, I will give Audacity a try. It sounds like a good one. If you have any questions regarding making short films, then feel free to contact me. It’s good to share ideas and tips. πŸ™‚

    1. I am not able to do it even if I try. However love your video poem so much. Can’t have enough of it. I’ve listen to it three times already. Definitely my favorite format and I even thought of finding more video poem for future consumption. So beautiful.

      1. Aww! Thank you so much, Haoyan. You really have a pure heart. I appreciate you and your creative mind. The stories you spin are fabulous. They always land a punch. Maybe we could collaborate on a video poem. Your words, my filming, and I’ll compile and edit it. Let me know. Take care. πŸ™‚

        1. wow, what a beautiful idea and what a beautiful project for the new year. I am thinking of writing a poem about a hairdresser and another one about life in general–I mean the fallacies we learned which are later proven wrong but we still adhere to it. I am not sure if they can fit the video but you can choose which to use and which to discard. I will start to do it and email you.
