November Unfinished

Unfinished Story

I can’t come up with an ending for the “The King And The Thief” post of yesterday. And right now I don’t know what to do. I know my own weakness–the stage fright. I can come up with reasonably good ideas when not under stress. However when the time comes to call for my exertion, I just freeze with terror. The problem is I don’t want the king to be a conventional despot. That’s so trite. However, I also can’t come up with a new angle. I hope tomorrow will bring fresh ideas.

Life is full of things unfinished–books, shows, stories, relationships, projects, drafts.

Unfinished TV Shows

“Voltaire High” from Amazon

This is a really good show and I am still watching it. I particularly enjoy the fact that it feels like there are both female and male script writers for the show. Or probably even more women writers. Women are more like real women, not like fancy sketches from male writer’s imagination. Even mothers in the show are real women too–I enjoy this. They are not those stereotypical good mothers who only dispense tired tunes of a perpetual nanny, or those stereotypical bad ones.

“Billions” from Showtime

I only watched five episode of season five and not beyond that point. I was really disappointed knowing that Taylor Mason is not given a bigger role to play. I just love the character so much. I wish that Taylor replace Axelrod to be the main attraction of the show, but unfortunately Michael Prince is chosen as the conventional replacement. Please take some risk and cast Taylor in a better way. How about make Taylor a criminal master mind?

Seinfeld

I finished the first half of the seasons and never continued. I should finish it, but somehow I just delay it year after year.

Unfinished Books

Too many unfinished books in my kindle fire that I don’t know where to start.

  1. I know what you mean, I have too many books, movies, and TV shows to finish. I need to be in the right mood for them.

Whenever I have a writing block due to “stage fright”, I ask myself, “Am I making money off this blog? No? Then why worry!?” It helps me release some pent up energy.

    1. So true. Often the blocking is psychological. I love to rant and I have never been mentally blocked in my ranting, but I try to suppress my ranting instinct. And in the process of the suppression, I might have also blocked myself in a certain way. Yes, thank you for your insights.

  2. I’m sure you’re going to come up with a very clever ending for the story, I’M SURE. You’re just very good at that. Meanwhile, I have to check it out now that I’m back from my break.
    Here’s to finishing all that’s unfinished!! 💝

  3. You are definitely on the right track with your story, Haoyan. Don’t sell yourself short. I had all these images of other stories in my head of another time, in another land and where the King gets his comeuppance!

I haven’t watched “Voltaire High” and I have been in two minds starting “Billions.” I like the cast, but I’m not so sure regarding the style of the show. As for Seinfeld, I wouldn’t bother getting back to it as the finale was a huge let down.

Do take a look at the “Wheel of Time,” on Amazon. I am happy with what they have done so far re this brilliant story.

    1. That’s a nice word “comeuppance” and it is easy to remember too. True. I don’t like Billion’s plot, but I like some of the dialog, especially in the first two seasons. Really? I see “Wheel of Time” when I scroll, but I never stop for it. Thank you for the recommendation.

        1. Hmm. I might try during the holiday season. I have to say I’ve never seen a fantasy movie except the “Twilight” series. Actually I like the Twilight series. I will try it this weekend… Sound exciting.
