New Word #131
There are many misconceptions about birds. If one wants to describe a person who eats very little, one would say, “eat like a bird.” However birds eat a lot since it has to eat enough to provide energy for its wing flapping flights. There’s another saying, “one stone two birds.” However, how can one hit two birds with one stone? That’s impossible to achieve. I mean that’s a goal narcissistic parents designed to torture their children. Also little birds don’t look aggressive to us, but they routinely raid other birds’ nests and eat their babies on YouTube. And of course the biggest misconception is the phrase “love birds”, which is used to describe lovers. However birds are not better lovers than other creatures. Actually male birds are better husbands than other males in the animal kingdom, but you never hear people say, “he is such a good husband that he is like a bird.”

Thank you for your sweet encouragement. I recently develop a habit of watching penguin videos before going to sleep. I guess birds are getting into me right now.

Thank you for your information about birds. When people call you a chicken, they say you aren’t brave, but the opposite is true. The chicken is a very courageous bird. The Romans used to honor them for their courage, and they believed the birds carried messages from the gods.

Yes, I think so too. Birds are very courageous and deserve the respect from Romans and the rest of the people. So true. Chicken is always related with “chicken out” or something cowardly like that, but actually chickens are great animals.

I have been reading quite a lot about birds lately so this was a lovely little read that illustrates many of the ways we use bird terms metaphorically. :9

On my father side of the family, they name each member of the family after a bird. And after a while, they start to imagine the person takes after the traits of a certain bird.
