Lol that last quote was a little too relatable. I don’t understand peoples fixation on being extraordinary. It’s okay to be ordinary and it’s okay to be average.
I guess I’m not a really big fan of Sartre. There is no ordinary person. I have met many unique individuals and the more time you spend with them the more time the you discover how extraordinary they are.
I totally agree with you. Ordinary is wonderful. Sartre is too coddled by his family to imagine himself a cherub and consider himself special. He is often annoyed when his grandma doesn’t adore him enough. LOL. He is trying to describe how he grows out of this.

I totally agree with you. The illusion (or delusion) of greatness is so ruinous to people. LOL.

Horribly is such a harsh word. I like to think I am spectacularly ordinary.

Yes, you are extra-ordinary. And life is spectacular in its ordinary way. Especially when we have somebody we love.

Yes, and it takes guts to discover and stand by our uniqueness without being overwhelmed by social pressure.

Don’t normally go for existentialism as it is so cheerless but like that quote about the order of the world concealing intolerable disorders..

That’s so true. Sartre almost deliberately tries to be cheerless despite his sheltered middle class life. LOL.

Ordinary isn’t so bad, is it? What did Sartre dislike about it?

I apologize for knowing little about Sartre except for his existentialist bent. Thanks for the quick run down!

I don’t know much about existentialism either. I just like individual sentences whenever they feel interesting. LOL.
