Dreary day, endless rain, everywhere dark and wet.
At intervals, the sky brightens up,
but a mist lingers, a haze hovers
in the cool sauna of the saturated air.
I should have prepared for the rainy day,
but I didn't.
Now I went to the store grudgingly,
made a wrong turn, almost lost my way.
Trader Joe's is packed;
Masked people, dripping wet, rush in and out.
What's the haste?
Many shelves empty, popular items gone.
The last packet of chicken wanton, damaged, unwanted.
Take it, take it. If you don't, you'll regret it.
Why so grumpy? Why such a frown?
The freshness of the air, the cool fog of droplets.
The new greens smile; the budding branches grow.
I know, I know.
The sun is behind the cloud.
The spring is already here.
Be happy and hopeful when the day is slow.

Sigh. I wish I have another way to say it so that my mimic of Longfellow will not be too blatant.

Thanks, though I have to say that is a mimic from Longfellow’s “Rainy Day”, but I can’t come up with an alternative to replace it yet. I will try. LOL.
